The Law School at the University of Exeter is an ambitious, dynamic and friendly law school delivering a first class legal education, offering some of the most sought after law courses in the country.

Based in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, we offer a cosmopolitan teaching environment attracting students, staff and visiting scholars from around the world. Our portfolio of degrees and extra-curricular activities, such as mootingpro bono workstudy tours and work placements, offer unrivalled opportunities to gain invaluable legal experience both at home and abroad and promise to offer you a unique experience in as well as out of the classroom.

We have an outstanding reputation internationally for our research - in the Research Excellence Framework 2014, 85 per cent of our research was classified as world-leading or internationally excellent*.

We also offer a vigorous research culture, which is contributed to by a flourishing community of full- and part-time postgraduate research students and enhanced by our location within the College of Social Sciences and International Studies. Researchers benefit from interaction with colleagues within other disciplines and actively encourage liaison through interdisciplinary research projects.

The University of Exeter is an exciting and lively place to study law. We are committed to providing high-quality research-inspired teaching. Our undergraduate programmes offer you an outstanding student experience, giving you a foundation in key areas of law in the first year and becoming increasingly flexible in following years, with many students choosing a programme that allows them a year abroad.

Graduate Diploma in Law

Thanks to an innovative collaboration with the University of Law (ULaw), we are excited to announce that students are now able to study for the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) at Exeter.

Taught by expert ULaw academics, with unrivalled levels of face-to-face teaching and tutor support, the GDL is the first step for non-law graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field. Students are taught on our beautiful Streatham campus, with access to our world-class facilities, and are able to go on to the professional stages of training once completing the one-year programme.

The same collaboration will ensure that from September 2016, both LLB and GDL graduates will be able to continue their professional legal training at Exeter and complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) on campus. More details to follow in 2016!

Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)

The LLM

Studying an LLM Master of Laws offers unrivalled academic stimulation, the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the law and specialise your knowledge in a particular area, and improved career prospects at the highest level whether that be in practice or academia. As a student on our LLM programme, you will be able to choose four modules covering a wide range of topics, one of which can be a non-law module should you wish to study a particular area outside of the Law School.

If you wish to study the general LLM programme, all of the modules will be available to you. However, we also offer specialist pathways in the following areas:

 LLM Intellectual Property Law

LLM International Human Rights

LLM Maritime Law
