Viennese Law Student Challenges Facebook
- 02nd November 2011
A law student from Vienna has accused Facebook of breaching European data protection laws.
The 24 year old law student obtained all of the information that Facebook holds on him via a information access request. He has since discovered that some of the information held about him has been withheld such as like and rejected friend requests.
In response to his concerns Facebook noted that certain information is exempted from a subject access request under the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003 if "disclosures in response would adversely affect trade secrets or intellectual property".
The campaign by Max Schrems continues.
