US firm launches graduate training scheme

A major New York law firm, Sullivan & Cromwell, is to launch its first ever graduate training scheme in London – creating up to six trainee solicitor positions each year.
The first trainees are expected to start in 2013 - and the firm expects to be paying them £50,000 in their first year. It is understood newly qualified solicitors at the firm earn £97,500 plus bonus.
The firm has also indicated it will start a summer vacation scheme next year for the first time. Benjamin Perry, Partner at Sullivan & Cromwell commented that, "it is a real demonstration of our commitment to London and we are looking for graduates seeking a long-term career with the firm."
