Trainee wins Promising Young Lawyer award
- 08th November 2010
A Norton Rose trainee has beaten off competition from other trainees in top City law firms to win the Promising Young Lawyer award by the Black Solicitors Network Awards.
Bobby Kensah, who arrived in the UK from Ghana aged 12 and unable to speak English, was highly commended by the judges for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to his clients; and for the impact he has already made in the legal profession. He already has a number of awards under his belt: in 2005 he won the Best All Round Student of the year award (sponsored by Clifford Chance); later winning the Law Society’s Pro bono Lawyer Award and LawWorks Best Individual Contribution to Law.
The award aims to honour outstanding achievement, and recognise and highlight the experience and contributions black lawyers make to the legal profession.
Cordella Bart-Stewart, chair of the Black Solicitors Network, said picking this year’s winner was “extremely tough” with the level of competition continuing to rise. And Bobby said: “I am flattered and equally delighted to have won this prestigious award and would like to thank the judges for choosing me. I am honoured to be ranked with the other winners of this award. There are many young solicitors who also do an outstanding job every day, and so I accept this award on behalf of them”
