  • Trainee solicitor wins pro bono award

  • 14th July 2010
  • A trainee at international law firm Norton Rose has won Law Work’s Best Individual Contribution to Law at its 2010 Pro Bono Awards.

  • Bobby Kensah, the current Law Society’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year won the award after beating off competition from senior lawyers from other top City firms.

His winning pro bono work included taken on countless cases for various clients with Law Works Pro Bono Clinic and has won thousands of pounds for his clients through his various pro bono initiatives

Law Work’s annual awards celebrate the best legal Pro Bono activities undertaken by organisations and individuals and recognise the positive impact that they have made on their clients and the community.

As well as his day job, Bobby runs a self funded mentoring programme where he mentors young people from inner city schools. He is also a campaigns and policy officer for the United Nation Youth Council, a role which involves him working on the promotion of human rights for young people across the globe.

He says: “Pro bono work is incredibly rewarding, and an ideal way for the legal profession to give back to the wider community. It’s something that’s positively encouraged at Norton Rose, and something I’ve been given a lot of opportunities to get involved with.   Personally, it has helped me to better understand the community I live and work in, and has given me a deep insight into the benefits a knowledge of the law can bring.”
