  • Student ends up in court for cooking TV

  • 20th April 2011
  • A student who ‘cooked’ a destroyed TV set in an oven at his university halls has been released from custody following an Appeal Court ruling.

  • The student, of Sheffield University, was claimed to have gone on a drunken rampage just before they left their halls, throwing a TV set from a top story window and placing bits of a TV in an oven. Judge Peter Collier, with Lord Justice Moses and Mr Justice Blair said though that the oven had been turned off when the TV fragments began to emit noxious smoke.

It was reported that both students had an excellent reputation prior to the incident, but will be “dogged by this conviction…for the rest of their lives” said Judge Collier.
