  • SRA considers LPC exemptions

  • 23rd July 2010
  • The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has unveiled a consultation to propose exemptions from the Legal Practice Course (LPC) for the first time.

  • Under the plans, students who have passed certain recognised courses such as the Bar Vocation Course will not have to attend the LPC course itself but must still pass the assessments.  The SRA says the plan to accredit “prior certificated learning” should also help BVC graduates unable to secure pupillages, as black and minority ethnic students generally find this harder.

The SRA has stated that they aim to provide flexibility to all students, including those following a non-traditional route to qualification.
