SRA blocks Kaplan’s planned aptitude test
- 02nd February 2011
The Solicitors’ Regulation Authority has blocked plans by Kaplan Law School to introduce an admissions test for the Legal Practice Course.
Kaplan announced its plans last year at the same time the Law Society started its investigation into the viability of an LPC aptitude test. If implemented, aspiring LPC students would have been required by Kaplan to deliver a presentation, and undertake a written examination and an interview.
However, according to The Lawyer, the SRA said: “The SRA has not validated any LPC proposals which feature aptitude testing as part of the admissions arrangements. The SRA is aware that the Law Society is presently carrying out research into the possible merits of such tests and we await their findings with interest.”
Following the Law Society’s investigation, a report is due next month.
