Recession still biting Clarke Willmott
- 04th August 2010
Clarke Willmott, the South West firm, has put its training recruitment programme on hold and will not be taking any more applications for its September 2012 intake, pulling the plug early on last week’s deadline.
It is understood the firm will decide in September this year how may trainees it will recruit next year. There will be no change to the current intake numbers for this year and 2011.
Previous efforts to deal with the effects of the recession appear to have been insufficient. Last spring, the firm asked trainees who were due to start with the firm in 2009 and 2010 to defer for a year and receive a payment of £5,000 if they did so. It also asked staff to cut their working hours to four days a week to stave off redundancies.
