Petition to reform libel laws launched

Today, Simon Singh, a science journalist and TV producer, has handed in a petition to Downing Street asking for fairer libel laws.
English libel laws are widely seen as favouring claimants, placing the burden of proof on the defendant. According to the Libel Reform Campaign, a staggering 90 per cent of libel cases are won by claimants, leading London to be christened the libel capital of the world.
