Oxford grad sues LPC provider
- 02nd February 2011
An Oxford graduate who says the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice failed to properly prepare her for her LPC exams and ruined her legal career is claiming £100k in damages.
Maria Abramova, 28, has launched her action in the High Court in London, claiming the Institute did not adequately prepare her for the gruelling LPC exams by not coaching her in crucial exam techniques. She failed the exams taken in May 2005.
She claims to have psychologically difficulty taking legal exams following her experience at the Institute. She failed the New York bar exam three years ago and decided not to resit. Her lawyer told the court that whatever exam technique tuition she received was too late.
Abramova is now a paralegal and claims to feel haunted by her failure to qualify as a solicitor. The college is disputing the claim and the hearing continues.
