Opportunities at Law Society Brussels office
- 28th October 2009
Trainee solicitors have a chance to apply to spend six months in the Brussels office of the Law Society. Recruitment has already started for seats commencing in March and September 2010.
Successful trainees will have direct experience of the EU’s institutions with the possibility of taking part in the legislative and political process in Brussels, and actively monitoring EU legal developments in areas such as criminal justice and private and international law. The trainees’ work will include drafting legislative updates and writing European Court of Justice case reports.
Heidi Sandy, chair of the Junior Lawyers’ Division, says: “The secondment is a great opportunity for a trainee to get involved with the EU's institutions and legislative process. It offers access to the EU from a different perspective than you would normally see in private practice, as well as the opportunity to broaden your contacts and skills in a different jurisdiction.”
