NQ salaries
- 05th March 2010
US law firm Bingham has confirmed it is paying newly qualified solicitors in its London office a starting salary of £100,000.
A recent survey conducted by Lawyer 2B reveals the huge disparity between NQ salaries at US firms and magic circle firms, where NQ salaries top no more than around £60,000.
The huge disparity in NQ salaries between US and magic circle firms highlights the gulf between what newly qualified solicitors earn both in London, and nationwide where NQ salaries can be less than £25,000.
Binghams has been criticised by rival firms for the size of its NQ salaries who believe it is unsustainable in the long-term. Binghams says it recruits just two trainees a year and their NQ salary is justified as they have a lot more responsibility and high level client contract from the outset.
