Newcastle comes out on top

Newcastle tops the polls as the best place for students. Lettings website accommodationforstudents.com asked undergraduates to review 62 university towns and cities with Newcastle receiving an overall rating of 64%.
The survey which polled more than 40,000 students put Newcastle at the top of the pops. A spokesman for Newcastle University said: “It’s no surprise that Newcastle has come out top. Our students find the mix of culture, lively city life and beautiful surroundings the perfect backdrop for their studies.
“We’re pleased that students recognise Newcastle University’s efforts to create a vibrant learning environment.”
At the other end of the scale was Salford, in Manchester, which was considered the worst place to study.
