MBA for Simmons trainees
- 05th March 2010
Future trainees at city firm Simmons & Simmons are to be put onto its MBA programme with BPP law school in September. The MBA is set to become a permanent option in the firm’s graduate recruitment process
According to Legal Week, the firm is asking potential trainees to say whether or not they want to do the MBA before starting a training contract there.
The full-time year-long MBA in Legal Business was launched in last September providing in-depth knowledge of business and finance. It offers modules on management and leadership providing insight into the complexities of running a business in the legal environment.
Alex Brown, graduate recruitment partner at Simmons & Simmons, told All About Law: "We want to develop commercial, business-aware lawyers with enhanced skills and knowledge of our core industry sectors who can add value more quickly in working with our clients. We are therefore giving our future trainees the opportunity to study on the MBA course in order ensure that they have these skills from day one and can then develop those skills alongside other trainees, associates and partners through the regular professional development and business development courses that we run at all levels."
Last year, a number of trainees deferred their starting date to do the MBA and all students starting the MBA this September reportedly took the decision to take it before they started their training contracts.
