  • Legal executive route gains popularity

  • 28th January 2011
  • An increasing number of aspiring lawyers are entering the profession via the legal executive route, according to the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX).

  • The latest figures reveal a 40% rise in the number of exams being taken for the ILEX equivalent to an A’level.

Welcoming the news, Diane Burleigh, chief executive at ILEX, says: “What is so brilliant about this increase is that more students are recognising the benefits of becoming ILEX members. Even at this stage in their studies, many of them will be already working in the legal sector and so ILEX qualifications can be a way to demonstrate their skills to both clients and their employers.”

By training to be a legal executive, students will still eventually qualify as a lawyer but can study with ILEX while they are working.
