Law student loses court battle with OXILP over failed exams
- 23rd March 2011
A former student at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice has been unsuccessful in her attempt to sue the school following her claim that she had been inadequately prepared for the LPC exams.
Maria Abramova, who graduated from the University of Oxford in 2004 with a 2:1 in law, claimed that she now finds it difficult to take exams following her experiences at OXILP, having subsequently failed the New York Bar Exam.
Her case, led by Oliver Hyams of Devereux Chambers, was launched in February and concluded earlier this month. Julie Brannan, Director of OXILP, remarked: “We are extremely pleased with this judgment, which finds in favour of the OXILP on every point.”
The judgement was handed down by Justice Burnett at the Royal Court of Justice, who added that “the claimant was a witness who, in my judgement, was ready to blame anyone but herself for her misfortunes.”
