A law student has walked away with £2,630 after winning the BBC quiz show, The Weakest Link.
  • Lorcan O’Mahony. A 20-year-old law student at the University of Central Lancashire, won the cash in November and said it was the hardest thing he has ever had to keep secret.

He says he did not set out to go on the show, but was looking on the internet to see what TV shows he could go on as an audience member - and came across an advert on how to apply to get onto The Weakest Link.  Whilst Lorcan, who describes host Anne Robinson as “intimidating”, says it was shock to win, he had some ‘easy questions’.

He was the youngest contestant on the show he took part in, and was asked by Robinson to put forward the case for students not to pay tuition fees.  On hesitating, she said he was being tested to see if he would make a decent lawyer.  He told her: “If students can’t afford to go to university they can’t create a better future for the country.”
