  • Law student in court over Millbank Tower protest

  • 15th June 2011
  • A law student from Strathclyde University has made an appearance in court denying violent disorder over the attacks on the Conservative Party’s headquarters at Millbank Tower.

  • Bryan Simpson, 22, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court and has chosen to have a crown court trial by jury, stating he refuses to be judged “by a magistrate who is on 180 grand a year”.

The law student took part in the protest in November last year that involved thousands of other students angry at the proposed changes to tuition fees. It is alleged that he had thrown a megaphone towards the police but had ended up hitting one of his fellow protesters on the head.
