  • Law student convicted of Islamic terror offences

  • 25th February 2011
  • A law student convicted of posting Islamic terrorist propaganda on line was sentenced today.

  • Mohammed Gul, 22, who was studying law at London’s Queen Mary University at the time police raided his home in 2009 and has since qualified, was radicalised while a student.  He was found guilty at the Old Bailey of five counts of disseminating terrorist publications.

His actions included posting film clips onto the social internet site YouTube and other websites.  He had also used Jihadi songs and clips from al Qaeda, the Taliban and Iraqi media sites, including an image of Osama bin Laden with words of a poem praising terrorism.  The prosecution said Gul, who denied all the charges, was “pouring petrol on the fire” and his actions could have spurred others to commit acts of terror, however, Gul told the jury he did not support terrorism.
