Law student charged for ‘racially abusing’ Stan Collymore

A university law student is to be taken to court after Stan Collymore contacted the police following ‘racially charged tweets’ from Joshua Cryer. A final year law student at Newcastle University, Mr Cryer sent via @joshuacryer1 (now deleted) “has anyone ever called you Stan ****ymore” and “has anyone ever referred to you as semi pro as in a semi pro ****”.
Stan re-tweeted the messages to his followers and contacted Staffordshire Police to give a statement and evidence. A spokesman for Newcastle University said: “Northumbria Police have charged one of our students in connection with sending racist messages”.
