  • Law Society considers aptitude test for LPC

  • 15th September 2010
  • The Law Society is to consider imposing aptitude tests on aspiring solicitors who wish to take the LPC, in an attempt to reduce the numbers of student on the course.

  • The Society has appointed a consultant to consider various ways in which the numbers of LPC students can be reduced, including an aptitude test and incentives for law firms to provide training contracts.  The move is the result of the increasing disparity between the number of LPC graduates and the number of training contracts available.  A report is expected by early next year.

An aptitude test for the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) has been implemented and is now compulsory for all candidates wanting to start the BPTC in September 2011.
