  • JLD says do not be put off a legal career

  • 10th September 2010
  • The Junior Lawyers Division (JLF) of the Law Society has encouraged A’ level students who have not secured a university place to study law this year should not be put off entering the profession.

  • But the JLD is urging them to consider alternative routes and be sure that a legal career is for them.  Kevin Poulter, a JLD executive member, says: “An increasing number of firms are recognising that there are alternative routes to becoming a solicitor. Some firms now take up to 50 per cent of trainee solicitors who don’t have a law degree.”http://display.centaur.co.uk/IMPCNT/ccid=8740/SITE=L2B/AREA=/CHANNEL=/SUBAREA=/POSITION=L2B.INPAGE_MPU/AAMSZ=IAB_INPAGE_MPU_300x250/acc_random=2540630607/pageid=2540630607 <a href=http://display.centaur.co.uk/IMPCNT/ccid=8740/SITE=L2B/AREA=/CHANNEL=/SUBAREA=/POSITION=L2B.INPAGE_MPU/AAMSZ=IAB_INPAGE_MPU_300x250/acc_random=2540630607/pageid=2540630607" height="1" src="https://mail.msexchange2007.com/owa/ev.owa?ns=WebReady&ev=GetFile&d=CC-49-1E-B5-D0-7D-80-DC-52-19-1E-C6-8A-BF-4C-6A&f=1_0001.jpg" width="1" />

“What remains important is the quality of education, the class of degree and the character of the candidate,” he adds.
