  • Human rights bursary scheme

  • 22nd February 2010
  • Awards of up to £1,000 are available for aspiring lawyers who are hard up but want to work in the human rights field.  Around five awards are made each year out of a £6,000 funding pot provided by the Human Rights Lawyers Association (HRLA), which has just launched its 2010 Bursary Scheme

  • The HRLA’s scheme is designed to help potential lawyers who could be disadvantaged when applying for internships or jobs in human rights law because he or she lacks the financial means. To be eligible, applicants must be currently studying at degree or post-graduate level or taking the LPC or BVC.  It is also open to individuals who have recently graduates in law.

Launched in 2006, the HRLA Scheme helps law students, either those currently studying or those who have recently graduated, in undertaking such work.  The deadline for applications is 2nd May 2010.  For further information visit http://www.hrla.org.uk/Bursary.php
