Halliwells trainees find employment

More than 40 aspiring solicitors who were scheduled to start their training contracts at Manchester firm Halliwells before the firm went into administration have secured alternative trainee contracts.
The trainees found alternative training positions through a scheme set up by Burges Salmon to which law firms sign up and then view the students’ CVs and offer letters where appropriate.
When Halliwells went under in the summer, 51 law students had their trainee contracts cancelled, 42 of which sent their details to Burges Salmon. It is understood two trainees will now train at Clifford Chance and two at Allen & Overy, and law firms are still contacting Burges Salmon expressing an interest in helping where necessary.
