  • GLS takes trainees again

  • 30th June 2010
  • With increasing signs that the legal market is recovering from the recession, the Government Legal Service (GLS) is to continue its legal trainee recruitment programme – despite the Government’s recent freeze on recruitment within the Civil Service as part of a cut on public spending.

  • GLS spokesman James Murphy said: “We are very pleased that the government has taken the decision to allow our trainee scheme to go ahead on an exceptional basis. The GLS legal trainee scheme, like the wider Civil Service Fast Stream programme, is widely recognised as one which is designed to attract the best talent we are able to find to fill key roles in government in the future. It is for this reason that the GLS trainee recruitment programme will continue and we are sure that this will come as welcome news to those who wish to undertake training contracts or pupillages within the unique legal environment that the GLS offers.”

Between 20 and 30 training places are available for trainee solicitors and barristers and applications for training places in 2012 will be accepted by the GLS from 1-30 July.  For more information visit http://www.allaboutlaw.co.uk/index.php/careers/government-legal-service/
