Diversity scheme open
- 04th March 2010
Despite its lack of funds (as we reported last week), the Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme (DAS) has now opened for applications from students for the LPC in the academic year 2010/11.
The DAS is the Society’s initiative to boost social mobility within the legal profession and was set up to attract the best talent to the profession who could be held back by financial hardship, disability, illness or other factors. The scheme relies on donations made to the Law Society Charity but is currently short of funds.
Applications can be made online by visiting http://juniorlawyers.lawsociety.org.uk/bursary/user/register
Applicants must fulfil certain criteria including showing that they are in a position of such exceptional financial hardship that it would be difficult to continue their legal studies without support. They must also be able to show they are eligible to work in England and Wales without restriction. The submission deadline is midnight on 31st March.
