College of Law Launches - Future Lawyers Network
- 19th October 2011
The College of Law has launched a new website providing free resources to anyone thinking about or starting a career in law, which includes careers advice and information and debate on the latest legal issues.
The Future Lawyers Network contains a wealth of careers and employability resources to help prospective lawyers take their first steps in the profession. It also features regular articles, blogs and analysis of topical legal news stories and developments in legal education and allows members to join in the debate by posting comments.
Web users don’t have to be students at the College to access this invaluable material and take part in discussion forums but simply need to register free of charge on the site: www.college-of-law.co.uk/futurelawyers.
Rachel Harris, Director of Employability at the College, said: “Our unique legal employability guide StEP will help members maximise their career prospects and achieve the best possible start to their legal careers by providing a range of tools and tips.
“The 10-step programme offers written advice and online workshops as well as practical activities and useful weblinks. Topics covered include understanding the legal market, researching legal recruiters, completing application forms and preparing for interviews.”
There is information on different areas of the law - what they cover, what they are like in practice – plus real-life case studies of College tutors, careers consultants and pro bono staff giving details of their legal careers and practice areas.
