  • College of law conducts review and potential sale

  • 08th September 2011
  • The College of Law is conducting a ‘strategic review’ which many believe could lay the foundations for a potential sale. The College of Law has functioned as a charity since 1975, however if a sale goes ahead it would lose its charitable status.

  • The College’s main competitor, BPP, was sold to Apollo Global in 2009 for £300m and produced the first private company with degree awarding powers. If the College of Law was also to be sold they would become the second such company with degree awarding powers.

What this would mean for the College’s students however is yet to be seen. If the transition that BPP went through when it was sold is anything to go by though, very little will be changed for the College of Law should a sale occur.
