  • CoL students experience French law

  • 04th July 2010
  • Four students at the Birmingham branch of the College of Law (CoL) go to France this week for a month’s work placement with law firms in Lyon.

  • The exchange takes place annually and four students from Lyon, Birmingham’s twin city, will visit England in September.  It is organised jointly by the CoL and L’Ecole des Avocats, a law school in Lyon.

Bernardette Griffin, director of the CoL in Birmingham said: “I am very pleased that the exchange has been successful for the last nine years in providing College of Law students with practical experience of legal work in France. It has been a wonderful means for students to network with French lawyers and enhance their legal knowledge and background.”

Elizabeth Alabaster, 25, has just completed the GDL and will start the LPC in September, says: “After university I spent two years working in Paris and had a brilliant time,” she said. “I am really looking forward to spending further time in France and to gaining an insight into the French legal system. I am hoping to pursue a career in international law so this will be a great experience for me.”
