CoL staff double breast cancer target figure
- 08th July 2010
College of Law staff in Guildford have more than doubled the cash they intended raising to support a breast cancer charity after a colleague was treated for the disease.
They succeeded in raising more than £10,250 for Breast Cancer Care – a figure that smashed its original goal of £5k – by a sponsored walk, delivering raffles, cake sales, a coffee morning for local residents and a series of quiz nights.
The CoL also held a series of law seminars for the local legal community on the planning system, and recent contentious probate cases. The CoL’s staff were prompted to raise money after the charity supported a colleague, tutor Janice Collino, during her recent successful six months of treatment for breast cancer.
Janice said: “The team is absolutely delighted to have raised so much for a charity that helps so many women affected by breast cancer, and we are most grateful to colleagues, students and local businesses who have generously contributed to this cause and enabled us to achieve such a fantastic result.”
Anyone who wishes to contribute donations to the charity can do so online through the JustGiving website at: www.justgiving.com/College-of-Law0
