CoL Pathways graduates
- 14th July 2010
The second cohort of young students completing the College of Law’s Pathways to Law programme has graduated.
A-level students nationwide completed the two-year course, designed to widen access to the legal profession.
Since it started two years ago, almost 800 students have been accepted onto the scheme that runs throughout their A-level years (Years 12 and 13).
The £1.5M scheme was established in September 2007 by the CoL and The Sutton Trust, a charity which aims to promote social mobility through education. Pathways’ goal is to provide opportunities to students from English state schools who are interested in a career in law and will be the first generation of their family to attend university. It targets students from under-represented backgrounds with high GCSE grades. Successful applicants attend lectures, seminars and advice and guidance sessions at a choice of various locations. They also have the opportunity of a mini placement at a law firm.
Pathways to Law is supported by The Law Society and eight leading law firms who contribute financially to its continued development. Applications are invited for the next cohort by visiting www.pathwaystolaw.org
