  • CoL bursary fund for diversity scheme

  • 03rd November 2010
  • The College of Law (CoL) has announced an alumni bursary fund to widen its Pathways to Law scheme which aims to increase diversity in the legal profession.

  • The new fund will allow the 12,000 members of the CoL’s Alumni Association to contribute towards the £3m scheme that supports A’level students from disadvantaged backgrounds wishing to enter the legal profession.

The Pathways to Law scheme was established by the CoL and supported by the Law Society, top law firms and universities.  It targets state school pupils who are the first generation of their family to attend university

Nigel Savage, chief executive of the CoL said: “A recent survey of our alumni members indicated that there was backing for a scheme to enable alumni to give financial support to help widen Pathways to Law. Since Pathways was set up in 2007 more than 1,100 students have benefitted and the new Alumni Bursary Fund will help us to extend that support as students continue their journey into the legal profession.”
