Client panel: added dimension to vac schemes
- 27th January 2010
A handful of law students fortunate to have secured a vacation scheme this year could face an added challenge. City firm Hammonds is including a client panel interview in its 2010 summer vacation scheme.
The firm’s client companies will be invited to join recruits who will make mock pitches to them. The clients will be able to grill candidates and give them their opinions on how they would rate them as part of the client team.
If the client panel proves successful, the firm will introduce it as a regular feature.
But it’s not all heavy stuff: Hammonds promises, on its website, that its vacation scheme students will take a trip on the London eye, enjoy an evening out to regular haunts and pool tournaments. However, the firm has not escaped a battering from the recession: it has just asked 17 of its future trainees who were to start their training contracts this September, to voluntarily defer their places for 12 months.
