City Law School partners with Liberty; and Supreme Court
- 28th January 2011
City Law School has teamed up with Liberty, the human rights organisation, to launch a new pro bono clinic manned by students on the LPC and BPTC.
The clinic will give students the opportunity to advise on real life legal problems while gaining valuable insight into human rights law and practice.
Law students at CLS, part of the University of London, are also about to launch a volunteering project, ‘Big Voice 2011’, in partnership with the Supreme Court in a bid to encourage disadvantaged youngsters in London schools to focus on legal access and identity.
At its launch last week, more than 40 students from local schools and colleges met at the Supreme Court to mark their involvement in the project which, over the course of the year, will deliver workshops and sessions in which local students can do research and meet well-known figures in the legal world. Eventually, they will help write a comparative paper on legal systems both in the UK and post-apartheid South Africa.
