City Law School offers pro bono module
- 13th October 2010
The City Law School (CLS) is to offer an optional pro bono advice module as part of its law degree programme.
The module, due to start in September 2011, will last for two years and students will be required to undertake between 75 and 100 hours of training in the first year, and 20 days of advisory work at a local Citizen’s Advice Bureau in the second year.
The students must also write a 3,000 word reflective essay and complete a further four-day training course. On successful completion of the module, students will gain a CAB ‘general adviser’ qualification and a certificate of advisory practice from the Institute of Paralegals.
Sarwan Singh, director of pro bono at The City Law School says he hopes the module will encourage undergraduates to become more involved in pro bono work earlier in their legal studies.
