  • BPP sixth form careers day

  • 17th March 2010
  • More than 250 A’level students took part in an annual sixth form day recently at BPP Business School.

  • The event was the third of its kind and the students were part of the Government’s ‘Gifted & Talented’ and ‘Aim Higher’ programme.  Major city law firms including Freshfields and Linklaters were there to give first hand advice and information to students about legal education and the application process.

Peter Crisp, Chief Executive BPP Law School said: “The event was a tremendous success. It was great to see so many talented young people engaged and excited as they discovered what a career in law involves. But the event was not just about promoting a career in law; it was about ensuring young people have the information they need to make informed decisions about their future careers. It also helps foster students’ aspirations about their careers and what they can personally achieve. This country has a great wealth of talent and all of us in education have a duty to ensure that talent does not go to waste.”

Other firms represented at the careers day included Baker & McKenzie, Denton Wilde Sapte and Slaughter and May. The government programmes mentioned are part of a government drive to encourage bright students to apply to university through mentoring schemes and workshops.
