BPP apologises for over recruitment
The BPP law school has apologised to the Bar Standards Board (BSB) for its ‘inadvertent over-recruitment’ of students on its Bar Vocational Course. The results of the BSB’s investigation have just been published including with the BPP’s formal response.
Harvard law student wins Google Buzz settlement
08th September 2010A law student at Harvard Law School who launched a class action privacy lawsuit against Google Buzz, for sharing personal data without user content has won an $8.5m settlement from Google.
Eva Hibnick, 24, received an email offering her Buzz, the new Google social networking service. She was not interested and clicked ‘no’ – but her instruction was ignored by Google and her email contacts were included on public Buzz profiles when it was launched in February.
It is understood the settlement money will be donated to internet privacy groups. Google has also pledged to “undertake wider public education about the privacy aspects of Buzz”.
