  • Birmingham law firm challenges University of Birmingham injunction

  • 01st February 2012
  • Students that began protesting in an abandoned university building last November against increased tuition fees are being represented by Public Interest Lawyers.

  • The university obtained a high court injunction that prevents protests being staged by students involving occupation. The firm believes however that the court order may criminalise any protests that involve individuals remaining in a location for any length of time.

Currently, any student that breaches the ban could face a fine or potentially even imprisonment.
