6th London Legal Sponsored Walk
- 05th May 2010
This year’s 6th London Legal Sponsored Walk will take place on Monday 17 May raising money for legal advice charities in and around the London area. So far nearly 3,500 walkers have registered from 230 teams and £80,000 has been raised.
The sponsored walk for the London Legal Support Trust kicks off at the Great Hall, Lincoln's Inn at 17.30 following a 10k route along the river through Green Park and Hyde Park and back to Chancery Lane.
The walk, sponsored by the Law Society, has in previous years attracted thousands of participants across the profession – and students and trainees as well as lawyers can take part. So far, participants planning to take part include a team from the Law Society, as well as law firms and barristers’ chambers. The Law Society will host the finish at Law Society Hall, Chancery Lane - where walkers will be rewarded with a free drink.
Recent cuts in local authority funding are making 2010 particularly financially challenging for free legal advice centre. Last year more than 4,000 walkers raised £390,000 and it is aimed to beat that figure this year.
