The College of Law Employment Module Retake

So, ladies and gents.

As some of you already know, the College of Law has managed to make a pig’s ear out of the procedure and so is going to give us another chance. The rules are:

- You got to inform the College to retake
- Retake is free, and will count as first attempt
- The retake result will count, whether it is better than the previous one or not

So, the big question: who’s up for Round 2? Who wants to see this as an opportunity to boost up their grades? I’m relatively keen to find out, because my average was 68%, but to get the distinction area, I need at least 82% (first attempt 74%) - so, your replies on the back of postcards.

Surely, whether or not to retake is a personal decision based on the individual’s own particular circumstances. For some, the risk that the retake mark will count whether better or worse than their original mark will convince them that “a bird in the hand is worth more than a bird in the bush”. If, however, the individual did not do particularly well first time around they may be persuaded that a retake is the best option. Some will fall between the two extremes and will have a difficult decision to make. What absolutely no-one should do is to decide to retake / not retake based only on how many others are doing the same.

I understand your point, but surely it is a good step to ask for others’ opinions when you have a issue that you aren’t so sure how to deal with. I’m sorry if there was a confusion, but I am not trying to base my decision SOLELY on how many people are intending to retake - I agree that that is something to avoid like the plague. What I was looking for was people’s opinion on the matter and the reasoning behind it, as it may have some tips as to how to come to a conclusion.
