Work experience is a big one. Obviously reading the papers can help but if you actually get the experience at first hand, you really can’t beat it. Saying that though, it’s not exactly easy to get work experience!

Work experience is a good shout but as you say GetmeInn, it’s difficult to get hold of. Unfortunately papers (although unbelievably obvious) are a good place to start. FT, Economist, etc will definitely put you in good stead. The way to really make them count though is to make your own conclusions. In any interviews you get with firms for example, they will want you to explain on equivilent pieces.

Get involved in things at uni and law school, a good thing COL do is called the Business Game, where you create a hypothetical company and make decisions based on various information provided, the aim is to increase your share price.

I would get a RSS reader - there a bunch for firefox and then subscribe to interesting blogs and that way you can keep up-dated about all the latest developments.

Plus all the papers are on line, so if you keep it up regularly it shouldn’t take much effort to look through the new articles.
