< Totally banned? You imply there is already a ban on them? >
They are already banned here in Northern Ireland, Andr, but nobody takes a blind bit of notice. One can apply (and pay for) a licence but nobody bothers because, let’s face it - how many police can there be in so many areas at a time. And anyway, people can buy fireworks off market stalls and from other disreputable outlets so it’s not practicable to monitor the situation at all.
It’s all very well saying that banning fireworks spoils the pleasure of law-abiding citizens but if they weren’t such a blasted nuisance in the first place there’d be no problem with them!
Ok. Organized displays - fine, I suppose, if you must ... but awaaaaaay way somewhere far enough so’s not to be a nuisance to anyone or anything. But no personal usage at all is what I’ll order when I’m Queen of the country.
Take my two pet chihuahuas f’rinstance - they both huddled in my handbag scared to death of the nasty bangs and refused to come out all night! Now that’s not right, is it. :(
And May I Just Say. (goodness, I’ve come over all Maggie Thatcher now) .... I’ve spent an absolute FORTUNE over the years buying sedatives, etc, for my beloved pets for Halloween night and they’re still petrified, and they’re indoors - so what about the poor animals stuck outside in back yards?? Some never recover from the shock of firework night and I think on that point alone they should be banned for ever and ever - Amen.
But hey-ho that’s just my opinion, innit - and nobody ever listens to me anyway.
