LPC Law School
City University London is located at the heart of the legal profession, surrounded by most of the biggest and best firms in the UK. An affiliation with London’s Grays Inn ensures the university and its students are constantly in contact with actual legal professions from the very start.
Confirmed by the Sunday Time’s 2008 university guide, it continues to occupy a leading post on the graduate employment rankings. The University is renowned for its focus on the practical aspects of education and aims to produce highly employable graduates.
Our interactive lecture theatres and teaching rooms provide the perfect learning environment for the modern day student. Fully equipped with PC network and projection facilities, our teaching accommodation will help you to get the most out of your time in class.
At our Gray’s Inn campus there are ten digital recording rooms and a play-back suite available for your use. There is also a library of DVDs available to you, which demonstrate advocacy, interviewing and advising and negotiation skills. The lecture theatre at Gray’s Inn also benefits from a Syncroneyes classroom management system for a fully interactive learning experience.
You will also have access to two law libraries, an extensive IT network and our own acclaimed legal resource portals Lawbore and Lawbore.
We believe that the LPC marks the start of your professional legal career and therefore our course closely replicates the demands and disciplines of practice through realistic and engaging scenarios.
In addition to the core knowledge and legal subjects, we focus on professional behaviours and commercial awareness. The tasks on the course have also been designed to provide a range of transferable skills that can be applied in a variety of contexts.
Our Stage One and Stage Two timetables consist of:
- Four days teaching each week (up to around 16 hours class contact time)
- One day for preparation, professional development and research each week
- 20 plus hours of private study and preparation work each week
The course is taught in large group sessions, workshops with up to a maximum of 16 students and skills sessions with up to a maximum of eight students. We also offer the flexibility to shape study around personal commitments by giving you the option to study either in the morning or afternoon.
Our quality teaching staff bring a wide range of experience of practice to our course. They have direct and continuing experience in practice and have expert knowledge in a wide range of subjects.
In addition to normal teaching, we have a close relationship with our sister school, Cass Business School, and offer exclusive lectures on business-related subjects and commercial issues. We also strongly encourage you to participate in the Client Interviewing mediation and cross-course mooting competitions in order to build confidence and hone professional skills.
Our campus based in the beautiful surroundings of Gray’s Inn is right in the heart of legal London. We are just a short distance from the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the four Inns of Court, the Royal Courts of Justice and the Old Bailey. You will also have access to the main University campus based at Northampton Square in Clerkenwell.

London is a fantastic, cosmopolitan city to study in whatever your passion. Our campuses are based in the middle of legal London with the best restaurants, bars, shopping, music, theatre and clubs in the whole of the UK also on your doorstep.
The University’s student union also hosts events in some of the biggest and most famous night spots in London throughout the year, including Ministry of Sound and Fabric. The student union also offers more than 50 clubs and societies which students can join. Societies include a range of areas such as academic, cultural, religious, political or national interests, and clubs cover a wide range of sports from martial arts to basketball.
Interested in sport? We are in the process of redeveloping the Sports Centre to include an Olympic quality six-court sports hall, a 100 station fitness area, spacious changing facilities, four multi-purpose studios, separate team changing areas and a cafe. Whilst the sports centre is closed for redevelopment, we have secured preferential rates with local Islington and national providers of fitness facilities for our students.
