LLM Law School

The School of Law in Sheffield University is also famous among Law Schools in the UK. So far as international students are concerned, they must get 7.0 overall score in IELTs to prove that they have the abilities to understand complex English during the classes.
The Law School is now located in Bartolome House. In spite of the old looking, inside of the building is a warm and convenient environment to study in. After entering the main entrance, there is a guard room on the left hand side which has several friendly staff there to help people find their way in the confusing routes.
In addition, there are also some computer rooms for students to work there and discuss their modules, of course, printers are available in them. In each of the classrooms, a computer and a head projector are the basic facilities in it. Thus, teachers, professor, and even student can easily and clearly display the information that they prepared.
Even though the Law School does not have its own library, there are plenty of law books in the three libraries of the university.
The Law School has both young teachers and experienced professors. Some of them may have just finished their PHd degrees few years ago with passion in teaching and knows how to get along well with young students. On the other hand, some may have researched in law for many years and have experiences in practice. During the class, teachers and professors may be serious and strict, however, after the class, they are all very happy to answer students’ questions and to discuss questions with them. If students have further questions, every teacher and professors has question answering hours, students can make appointments with them even if the modules have been finished.
As regards dissertation, LLM students have to decide their dissertation topic around March in the academic year in order to decide who are going to be their supervisors. Basically, students in the Law School are allowed to meet their supervisors three times; however, students can always communicate with supervisors by email, and they would never refuse to help students.
To take LLM programmes in commercial law for instance, there are many different modules for students to choose, such as EU Law, Company Law, Insurance Law and Intellectual Property law. The various courses are designed for students to satisfy the requirements in different professionals.
Moreover, postgraduate students needs more research skills than undergraduate students, the Law School support students whose LLB degree were not finished in the UK to improve their research and writing skills. By co-operating with networks like Westlaw etc and the E-journal services form the university, students can search for the materials that they are required to prepare in an effective way.
Bartolome House is located in a quiet but convenient place in Sheffield. It is surrounded by Crookes Valley Park, Weston Park, and Weston Bank Library. Furthermore, it takes only three minutes to the Student Union of Sheffield University and five minutes to the biggest library of the university-- Information Commons. Students can collect books or study in the libraries after class without spending too much time to get there.
There are also many public transports stops close to Bartolome House. A bus stop is just in front of it; besides, there are two tram stops near by it, and it takes only five minutes walking. Therefore, it takes only ten to fifteen minutes to go to Sheffield city centre.
To study in the LLM progeamme in the Law School of the University of Sheffield, the tuition is around three thousand pound per year for European students while it is around nine thousand and eight hundred pound for other students.
To life in Sheffield, the life expenditure is cheaper than other busy cities such as London and Manchester. This is one of the reasons why many students choose to study in Sheffield University. Public transport, food, and entertainment, everything has more reasonable price for students and so everyone can afford to study and live here.
The Law School itself does not particularly have career supports; however, the university has many careers supporting activities. Sometimes there are activities especially for law students; many large legal firms provide job information and opportunities to the law students here.
To sum up, no matter convenience, expense, and study quality, the Law School of Sheffield University is worth considering for people who want to do LLM degree. It helps student to explore their future.

Every university has social club activities and Sheffield University has no exception. In addition to these activities, the Law School also holds professional lectures for law students. Many outstanding scholars from the world are invited to visit Sheffield and give lectures to the staff and students here. Also, sometimes the Law School arranges visiting activities for student, such as to visit the local courts, which can improve students’ knowledge of how the laws are used in practice.
Students in the Law School also organized their own activities. For example, there is an activity called LLM get together, students drinks and talks together after class without any pressure. They do not have to talk about laws, but talk about everything in daily life to help them know more about each other.
