Bingham may be famous for offering the highest starting salary in the City for newly-qualified solicitors—a stupendous £100,000—but the firm has so much more to offer than just money.
With world-class training and a fantastic network of support, trainee solicitors at Bingham are given responsibility from the moment they start their training contract.
Bingham is a truly global firm. Indeed, some trainees may even be given the opportunity to complete a seat at the firm’s Hong Kong office.
As well as offering trainees the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in a challenging, friendly and stimulating environment, Bingham encourages its employees to get involved with a range of community projects and pro bono schemes.
Finally, here’s a bit of inside knowledge for you: the firm’s London office has its very own cookie oven and fresh cookies are baked in-house on a regular basis.
Bingham’s London office is currently divided into eight practices: Financial Restructuring, Finance, Securities and Financial Institutions Litigation, UK Financial Regulatory, UK Funds, Corporate, EU/Competition and Tax.
Bingham requires a high 2:1 and excellent A-levels and looks for candidates with intellectual curiosity, together with an exceptional academic record and evidence of extracurricular achievement.
Trainee solicitors at Bingham complete a series of six-month seats during their two-year training contract, gaining valuable experience in four of the following practices: financial restructuring, finance, corporate, financial regulatory, EU/competition, tax and litigation.
As part of the programme, Bingham’s trainees benefit from regular in-house training sessions, lectures and workshops, which are designed to help them hone their practical skills and develop their commercial awareness.
What’s more, trainees are also given the opportunity to meet with the firm’s graduate recruitment partner on a regular basis to discuss their progress and talk about any problems they might have.
Bingham does not currently offer a vacation scheme in its London office.
As a first year trainee at Bingham, you will enjoy an annual salary of £40,000. This will then increase to £45,000 in the second year of your training contract.
Once you have qualified, your salary will rise to a whopping £100,000.
Additional benefits include: subsidised gym membership, a season ticket loan, life assurance, private health insurance, travel insurance, long-term disability insurance and a critical illness scheme.
If you’re accepted onto Bingham’s training programme, your LPC and GDL fees will be covered. You will also be given an £8,000 maintenance grant for each year of study.
If you’re interested in joining Bingham’s training programme, the first step is to complete an online application form. Please visit www.bingham.com/Careers/London-Trainees to get started. The deadline for applications is July 31st.
If your application is successful, you will be invited to an initial screening meeting with Bingham’s Legal Recruiting Manager. You will then be invited to take part in a series of interviews with a number of Bingham employees, including partners and other key staff members.
