The CLG is working hard to create thriving, sustainable, vibrant communities that improve everyone's quality of life.
To achieve this we are building more and better homes - and reducing homelessness; improving local public services ;regenerating areas to create more jobs; working to produce a sustainable environment; tackling anti-social behaviour and extremism .
In achieving these aims, our lawyers are involved in some of the most intellectually challenging and high profile issues facing government today. Our work covers many aspects of public law including Human Rights, Devolution, Equality and Discrimination, Freedom of Information, European law and international environmental law. The Legal Directorate is headed by its Solicitor and Legal Adviser and includes about 60 lawyers who advise Ministers and administrators on legal issues arising from the Department’s work. We advise on litigation, including judicial review, although we instruct TSol (Treasury Solicitors) to conduct litigation for us.
