Abdullah, Commercial law and the LLM blog...
This LLM Blog is written by Abdullah Kaloon, a current postgraduate student of Law at Cardiff Law School. Abdullah will be using this LLM blog to keep you all updated on his experiences on the LLM course throughout the year.
To explain a little more about our LLM blog writer, Abdullah is an international student from Pakistan who was the President of Cardiff Law Society during the 08/09 academic year. Following his LLM he plans to begin the BPTC (BVC) with the intention of practicing commercial law on the UK circuit.
And so nearing the half-way line?
09.06.2010Having submitted my last couple of assessments in International Banking Law and Carriage of Goods by Land, Sea and Air, I feel quite relieved that I have completed 60% of my LLM course!

And it starts again?!
19.04.2010My study is about to take another gruelling month, in my preparation of my last two 5000 worded essays in International Banking Law and Carriage of Goods by Land, Sea and Air. In addition to this I am ploughing through my pupillage applications for the OLPAS and NON-OLPAS sets, before the deadline expires by the end of this month.

LLM marks and heading to Edinburgh
15.12.2009Baron de Montesquieu once famously said, “You have to study a great deal to learn a little.” This is the feeling that dawned on me, when my International Sales’ Law formative was handed back to me with a ‘56%’ scribbled onto the mark-sheet. I was stunned by the mark and the amount of work that I had put into, especially in the answering of the complex aspects of the problem question.

And the work continues
04.11.2009Mohammed Ali Jinnah (the founder of modern day Pakistan) once coined together a key phrase for his countrymen that would be a guide to for achieving prosperity: “work, work and work.” I too in my last few weeks have been busy with my LLM modules of International Sales Law and Intellectual Property. (The other two, being’ International Banking Law’ and ‘Commercial Property’ are taught in the next semester.)

One week in and I’m already knee deep..
07.10.2009Confucius once said that “real knowledge is to know the extent of one’s ignorance.” This profound quote marked the beginning of my first class in the course of Sale & Goods and Agency, last year. It was ironic, in that a year on, I decided to enhance my knowledge on the same subject by undertaking a Masters in Commercial Law at Cardiff University.
