Frustration city… Connexions Services
All About Law. | 11.03.2010This week we started a sixth form campaign. As I am sure lots of you will remember there are a bunch of things that would have made life easier if we had known them before we started law.
I’m not even sure I would have taken law if the GDL had been explained to me in more detail! My main rant today is not that sixth formers should be more prepared but my difficulty in passing on this information to students. It is not that Connexions Centres are unhelpful or unwilling to pass on the information we have complied to advisors (it is quite the contrary) but rather that there are over two hundred centres!
Each LEA (Local Education Authority) is responsible for providing the Connexions service, but there is no central body who I can call up explain what we are doing and then have that information passed on. This is an issue.
It is an issue for me and this particular campaign but also highlights a wider problem of sharing information. There is a great deal of careers information available and lots more appears every week across hundreds of sectors. In my opinion we are in desperate need of a centralised system to pass information to all Connexions Services nationwide rather than having to deal with it on a micro level with each individual LEA.
